As California's least populated county, Alpine County provides a friendly, relaxing environment far removed from the state's more urbanized destinations. Whether it's for a weekend getaway or longer vacation, we are sure you'll enjoy our communities while enjoying the finest in mountain adventure and recreation.
And, when in Markleeville, please visit the Alpine County Visitors Center for visitor information, Sno-park (seasonal), wilderness, campfire, wood cutting (seasonal) and Christmas tree cutting permits (seasonal) and a wide selection of interpretive and historical books, area maps and gifts. Tour of the California Alps - Death Ride merchandise also available.
